How this concrete calculator works
Volume is length × width × thickness, converted to cubic yards (÷ 27) with 10% added for spillage and an uneven base. Cost uses an installed price per square foot for the finish, scaled up for thicker slabs, plus optional removal of the old slab.
Frequently asked questions
How many yards of concrete do I need?
Multiply length × width × thickness (in feet) and divide by 27. A 20 × 20 ft slab at 4 inches thick is about 5 cubic yards before waste.
How thick should a driveway be?
Plan on 4 inches for patios and walks, 5 to 6 inches for driveways, and more for heavy trucks or RVs. Ohio freeze-thaw cycles make a good gravel base and air-entrained concrete important.
How much does a concrete driveway cost in Ohio?
A plain broom-finish driveway typically runs $6 to $12 per square foot installed. Exposed aggregate runs about $8 to $14, and stamped concrete about $8 to $18.
